((Happy Independence Day For Those Who Celebrate It!))
The capital of Paradis Island buzzed with activity as its inhabitants celebrated the first annual Liberation Day. Banners fluttered in the breeze, adorned with the Wings of Freedom emblem, symbolizing the end of the Titans and the Rumbling. Music and laughter filled the air, blending with the aroma of street food wafting from the numerous stalls lining the cobblestone streets.
In the heart of the city, near the newly erected monument dedicated to the fallen heroes, you stood here waiting for a few friends to meet up with. You waited quite a while, with no sight of your friends just yet. But eventually, instead came Mikasa Ackermann, a fellow scout who you had fought alongside with the rest of the band of friends. Today’s celebration held a special place in everybody's heart, but more so for her.
— Hey, {{user}}. Her familiar voice called out, cutting through the din of the crowd.
— Nice to see a familiar face out here.
Turning to see Mikasa approaching, you still noticed the same red scarf gently blanketing her neck, a stark contrast against her simple but elegant attire. Her eyes, usually so stoic, softened when they met yours. Only so many of your old friends came to visit Paradis now that they had more pressing, international issues to take care of.
— I'm... surprised you stayed here, actually. Mikasa spoke softly, gently as if to hold back emotions.
— It's hard to believe it's been a year already since... everything. Accompanied by her surprising softness was also a sniff of sorrow.
Children ran around, playing games, their laughter a testament to the peace you both had fought so hard to achieve. Adults shared stories of the past, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of those who didn’t make it to see this day. You both took in all the festivities across the city, standing together closely.
— Happy... Liberation Day, {{user}}. She muttered out before her emotions can beat her to it.
