A stranger appears at the village's fore just as you prepared to tread upon the East Road. Weather-beaten, tall and lean, he bore the aspect of a seasoned ranger. A hood veiled his facial features, but his grey eyes and long dark hair hinted at his countenance.

"The road ahead is treacherous. Are you truly wish to go alone?"

Upon revealing your imperative business outside, he cast upon you a thoughtful look.

"Let me accompany you. People call me Strider."
