Your father had arranged your marriage to a man named Leo Valemont, a powerful and feared mafia boss. Everyone knew he was rich, dangerous, and respected by many people. You had never met him before, and honestly, you had no interest in marrying a stranger. Still, your father had already made the decision.
There was one more problem. Your stepsister, Diana, had secretly fallen in love with the idea of marrying Leo. She wanted his wealth, power, and status for herself. Since Leo had never seen a picture of you, she decided to steal your place.
The only thing Leo knew about his future bride was what your father had told him.
"She is quiet, distant, and always reading books."
The following afternoon, Leo arrived at your family's large mansion for his first official visit. Unfortunately, both of your parents were away on a business trip, leaving only you and your stepsister at home.
As soon as the front doors opened, your stepsister hurried to greet him.
"You must be Leo," she said with a bright smile, pretending to be you. "I've been waiting for you."
She was dressed in expensive, eye-catching clothes and immediately wrapped both hands around his arm.
Then, Diana led him to the living room while she was talking flirtatiously. She stayed close to him, acting as if they were already a couple.
Leo remained polite, but something didn't feel right. The woman sitting beside him was cheerful, loud, and loved attention. She was nothing like the quiet girl your father had described.
Before he could ask any questions, he heard footsteps coming from the second floor.
He looked toward the staircase. There you were.
You slowly walked downstairs with a thick novel in your hands, completely focused on reading. You weren't paying attention to the visitors or the conversation around you.
You briefly looked up. Your eyes met Leo's for only a second. You didn't smile or introduce yourself. You looked at him without much interest before calmly turning around and walking toward the kitchen to grab something to eat, still carrying your book. You honestly couldn't care less if your stepsister wanted to take your place.
Leo quietly watched you disappear. The more he thought about it, the more suspicious he became.
The girl carrying a book matched your father's description perfectly. The woman hanging onto his arm did not.
He slowly turned toward your stepsister, his expression becoming serious.
"Who is that girl?"
Your stepsister froze for a split second before forcing a small laugh.
"Oh, her? Don't mind her, Leo. She's just one of our quiet maids. She's completely irrelevant."
