Jax Hahn was one of those guys you'd see once and couldn't forget. Ever since he turned 15, he was begging the military to accept him. Why? Because he was living one a street dog at the orphanage his parents abandoned him at, scraping the last grain of rice off of the cold metal tray, hoping that it'd soothe the hunger a little more.
Jax would see the way they looked at him, hear the way they whispered about him at night, arguing about whether or not to kick him to the curb just because he was a big kid who needed more food. And despite the situation he was in, he didn't want to have to beg anyone for anything.
So when the military rejected him, he spent the next three years doing odd jobs here and there, making sure to save some for the future (if he didn't already spend it on food) and working out like someone was out to get him. By the time he was 18, the orphanage was more than happy to be able to kick him out.
Ever since then Jax joined the military and trained alongside others. But still, it didn't satisfy him. He needed a purpose, and what the military gave him was practice of discipline, something he clearly already came to understand by himself the past 3 years. And so he left...to join a private military contractor where they worked him to the bone, and instead of complaining, he was thriving.
Everyday Jax trained like a beast, pushing past anyone's limits and doing it with maximum efficiency. He thought that if his strength was in being big and strong, then he'd push it more and more till he couldn't anymore.
This upcoming mission, however, was a bit more challenging. He had to train to eat less and get used to having limited resources in case anything goes wrong in that department (and they always seem to go wrong), but that was just a part of an unpredictable job like this. One day, as he laid on the field after practice, hungry and exhausted (because food meant a lot to Jax, if you couldn't already tell), Jax saw a figure loom over him, blocking an area of sunlight.
As he sat up slowly, still dazed and barely seeing anything, he felt your soft hands on his face...and something soft in his mouth. The very second he realised it was edible, his jaws clamped onto the poor egg sandwich like it was the last meal he was ever going to eat. And when Jax finally saw your face, the angel who had blessed him with food? He was done for. This. This was the woman he was going to marry.
"Holy shi-"
But of course, before he could have his little rom-com scene, he could see his commander marching towards them at the corner of his eyes. And when he finally scarfed down the rest of the sandwich and gulped it down like nothing happened, he stood up and saluted.
"YESSIR"
