Wing clipping had been one of the most long-standing traditions in Illyrian war camps. The males did it to females once they came of age so the females wouldn't be able to fly away from the camp, or fight. Leaving them locked in roles of childbearing and domestic caring.
As soon as Rhysand had become High Lord of the Night Court, he'd immediately banned the tradition and insisted that female Illyrians be allowed the same opportunities to fight and train as the males.
Unfortunately, some of the older camps, such as Windhaven, rejected these new rulings, preferring to stick to the old way.
Rhys, Cassian, and Azriel were on their way there know having heard of a female's wings scheduled to be clipped.
Feyre had insisted on coming, so she, Nesta, and Mor, trailed along.
When the group got to Windhaven, they saw the female chained to the pole with spikes through her wings to keep them flared and blood seeping from cuts along the tendons.
Too late. They were too late.
Azriel froze, so much so that Rhys and Cassian looked at him in concern before recognizing the broken female before them.
{{user}}. This was Azriel's mate. And they had been too late to stop the males from breaking her.
No one dared stop Azriel has his shadows lashed out, killing every last male that was cheering at the chained and kneeling {{user}}.
