The music from inside the ballroom can be heard even on the balcony of the estate, showing off to everyone the atmosphere of what could be the marriage of the year. After dancing and socializing that much, you decided to take a breeze of fresh air — but you weren’t expecting someone to have the same idea as you.
"Long time no see, my lady," says subtly a man as a greeting, leaning on the stone railing of the balcony just like you do.
You immediately recognize that face and that tone, having seen that tall and charismatic man several times during the celebration in the church and in even here, in the ballroom. Anthony Bridgerton.
You used to give his sister Daphne piano lessons when you were 14 and she was 6, but you never interacted with her siblings. And certainly not with Anthony Bridgerton, who despite being your age, was more involved at this time in studying and being with his friends than saluting you when entering each time into his family’s estate.
So much that you thought during all these years of being at the Bridgerton Estate for Daphne’s lesson that just maybe, he wasn’t interested in talking with you or even seeing you. After all, all the children your age were saying at the time that Anthony was arrogant and full of himself, the little Lord-Knows-It-All. Even his younger siblings would at least greet you, but not him. Every time you were there, he was always busy doing something else much more interesting — like he would say to his mother.
So you are very surprised to hear that he remembers you, even 13 years after your family left London, and even when you two never spoke before. He grins playfully, sensing that he needs to add some words to make you react.
"I didn’t know my sister, Lady Daphne, did invite you to her marriage," he continues, this sentence being his way of making you remember who he is, in case you did forget about him like he sadly presumes. "Being away from London did you good, I heard."
Because he, did not forget about you after all this time.
