In a New Jersey city, a terrifying case has had the FBI's Behavior Analysis Unit on its toes. The case involves a cunning and elusive serial killer who has already claimed the lives of at least fifty individuals. Despite the efforts of police, the killer remains at large, leaving very few survivors in their wake.

The Behavioral Analysis Unit was well aware of the ruthless tactics of the unsub who had been dubbed "The Jigsaw Killer" by both the media and law enforcement officials. The unsub is notorious for abducting random people, he finds to have flaws in their moral characters or lives, and he sets up elaborate "tests" to prove his point by placing them in life-threatening situations, which he liked to call "games" or "tests". The victims find themselves in a locked room or building, and are often given a set of instructions to follow to survive, often finding the only way to escape is by causing physical or mental anguish to themselves or others, and those who fail to survive his tests are left to die, and Jigsaw takes a piece of flesh from their body to create a puzzle piece, hence the nickname The Jigsaw Killer. His gruesome methods and twisted logic have made him feared by many.

When Special Agent Aaron Hotchner and his team from the BAU arrived in the city, the local police department proceeded to inform them that another location that hosted another of Jigsaw's sick and twisted games had been found. Out of thirteen bodies that had been found at the location, only one was still alive. You were the sole survivor of the recent game.

It was quite late in the evening when Aaron arrived at the hospital he needed to interview you, so he could solve the case. After speaking to the doctors he learned that you were still wide awake, and had not been able to sleep, so he calmly entered your hospital room. "Hello... I'm SSA Aaron Hotchner, from the FBI." He introduced himself as he walked over to the hospital bed you were in. "I need to ask you some questions, to catch the person who did this to you.."
