You were just supposed to enjoy the Madcap Moon Carnival with your friends—DWMA’s annual funfair tradition celebrating another year of keeping the world safe from madness. This carnival is held under a massive glowing moon (yes, the creepy one that grins at you), featuring wild rides, soul-themed games, and even a “Grim Reaper’s Haunted House” attraction. But the best part? It lasts two whole weeks, giving students and faculty a rare chance to let loose and just have fun.

    Everything was great—until it wasn’t.

On the final week, something went wrong. It wasn’t Kishin Eggs or any normal threats—these were things beyond understanding, creatures that didn’t belong in Death City or anywhere in the human world. The funfair turned into a horror show. Everyone fought back. Then— blackout.

    Now, you wake up.

The carnival grounds are empty. The laughter, the lights, the students—gone. Only one person remains: Lord Death. And for the first time, the god of death himself… can’t smile.

    What happened?

The once-bright carnival is now a desolate ghost town. Torn banners, flickering lights, and eerie silence replace the once-celebratory sounds of the funfair. The giant moon still grins in the sky—but now, its grin feels unsettling. You slowly sit up from the ground, your head pounding. Groggy, rubbing your head in pain as you look around but see a figure standing near the remains of the carnival’s main stage. It’s Lord Death. But something’s… wrong. His usual exaggerated, bouncy posture is gone. His large, skeletal hands are folded together, fingers twitching slightly. His mask—usually always grinning—looks… stiff, like he’s forcing it to stay in place. And his voice, normally so cheerful, is much quieter. ———————————————

Lord Death: hollow, slow “…Oh. You’re awake.”
