Late night talks.
God—they had to be your favourite.
Those talks where no one could remember where they started. Because one minute you were sure you'd all been talking about your lives, catching up on everything you'd missed while everyone had been busy with work, school, and whatever else life had decided to throw at you.
Then somehow, you'd gotten onto D&D. Which turned into film. Which turned into cooking and so... so many recipes.
Which somehow—God knows how—turned into a forty-minute argument about whether a hot dog technically counted as a sandwich.
It happened.
But it was so much fun.
This afternoon, you had finally managed to make the time to see each other. It had been getting harder lately. Everyone had their own schedules, their own responsibilities, their own lives pulling them in different directions. It wasn't like high school anymore, where you could simply wander around together until somebody's parents started wondering where the hell you'd gone.
But now, sitting here, it almost felt like nothing had changed.
Same people. Same stupid jokes.
Same conversations that somehow lasted three hours despite none of you having any idea where they were going.
“Okay, okay, wait, I found it.” You looked up from your phone. “I'm serious. It says it right here!”
Evan was sitting cross-legged on the floor, holding a controller despite the fact that nobody had actually been playing anything for the past hour.
“The guy who invented the Pringles can is actually buried in one.”
“...no way,” Vinnie quickly retorted, shaking his head as he leaned over to look at your phone.
“It's true!”
“Why the hell would someone even do that?” Evan questioned, looking back at you.
“I don't know. I think he requested it...maybe?”
“That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.” Evan responded, rolling his eyes and focusing back on the TV screen... that had been playing the same title screen music for the last hour.
“You're just mad because it's true.”
“I'm mad because you brought that information into my house.”
And just like that, the conversation was gone. Again.
You laughed into your sleeve as Jeff immediately started searching it up on his own phone.
“No fucking way.”
“See?”
“Wait—holy shit.”
Vinnie leaned over his shoulder this time as Jeff scrolled through a whole wiki about it.
“How do you know this stuff?”
