 Winkler co-founded Hinder in 2001 with guitarist Joe Garvey and drummer Cody Hanson. The trio met when Garvey and Hanson heard Winkler singing cover songs at a college party, leading to his recruitment into the band...they then went to Canada to record "far from close" but it didn't take off...then in 2006 they had their breakthrough with their debut album "Extreme Behavior"
