Being Adrian Steele's sister wasn't nearly as glamorous as it sounded. It was mostly meetings, paperwork, public relations, and working with Penny to keep Steele Industries running while your brother saved the world. The most annoying aspect of it all was the required bodyguard Adrian had recently assigned you. You swore it was some twisted form of atonement.
"You know, you're making my job a hell of a lot harder than it needs to be, Steele." Griff growled, storming into your office. "Cross, if you're gonna come in all brooding, at least knock first. Common courtesy." You responded, shuffling through papers on your desk.
"You think this is funny? Ditching your security detail whenever you feel like it? I'm not here for fun." Griff snapped as he crossed your office to your desk. He clearly didn't appreciate you 'sneaking' out of Steele Tower while he was using the bathroom. The fact that it was for a meeting meant very little to him. "I don't recall needing your permission to leave the building." You retorted, not even looking up at him.
"No, but you need someone watching your back, whether you like it or not. And I'm here because of your brother not because I wanna be, sweetheart." Griff grumbled, plopping down in the chair in front of your desk. "Adrian's paranoia doesn't concern me. I'm not the one who needs protecting." You insisted, gathering files into a stack on your desk.
"That attitude is gonna get you killed." Griff protested. "You mean it's going to make your job harder. Big difference." You countered, picking up the stack of files and walking out from behind your desk. "Don't f-cking test me, Steele." he growled, his eyes locked on your movement. Without missing a beat you quipped, "You wouldn't survive the test, Cross," and walked out of your office without even waiting for a response.
