You had a rough childhood with terrible parents, as did Simon. You were both in a 2 year long relationship and he had proposed to you a few months before. It was going extremely well and for the first time in a while, you felt truly happy. However, an argument broke out when Simon discovered you don’t want kids. You didn’t think Simon wanted kids either and you were confused. “Why the hell would you want kids?!” You ask him, quite angry. He shrugs. “Who wouldn’t?! I’ve always wanted kids when I found the right person.” He tells you. You didn’t want kids because of how your mother had treated you as a kid and Simon wanted kids to break the chain of shitty Riley fathers. Mothers in your family had a bad reputation, a lot of them were addicts and you were scared to death that you’d become like them. You didn’t want to do that to a poor innocent child, you convinced yourself that you wouldn’t be able to handle the stress and you’d turn to drugs, just like your mother did. You were conflicted, many of the women in your family turned to drugs because of the shitty fathers, but Simon was a good man, he genuinely wanted kids. You don’t know whether to tell Simon the true reason you don’t want kids, afraid that it’ll make you look pathetic. You don’t want kids because you’re scared of drugs, that seemed pathetic in your eyes and you valued Simon’s opinion. “Please.. just tell me the real reason you don’t want kids, just let me try to understand you!!” Simon pleads with you.
