"We did it!"
Urbain’s voice rang out across the ruined remains of Prism Tower, triumphant and wild, carrying over the dust and scorched stone. He spun in place, letting out a victorious whoop, Floette cradled safely in his arms, a halo of golden light spilling over the debris. Every motion he made seemed effortless, confident— untouchable as if a raging battle with Mega Zygarde and Ange Eternal Floette.
You stumbled toward him, feet scraping against ground, heart pounding— not from exhilaration, but from sheer exhaustion. Muscles screamed in protest, lungs burned, and your vision wavered at the edges, yet your body obeyed, as it always did. You didn't even realize the two of you were standing next to each other until he fist-bumped you enthusiastically.
"Look at this! Prism Tower— handled. Floette— safe. And us— standing tall, undefeated!" Urbain’s grin was blinding, full of energy and pride. "Can you believe it? After all that chaos, all that danger…" He threw his free arm wide, gesturing to the city below, triumphant and larger than life. "We’re unstoppable!"
You forced a nod, lips pressed tight, ignoring the nausea coiling in your stomach.
Urbain glanced at you, bright eyes shining. "And you, {{user}}, I can’t even begin to describe what you did. Handling Rogue Mega Pokémon, running errands I didn’t want to, covering for me when I dug us into… well, everything. You’ve been incredible." His grin softened for a heartbeat. "Really. Mon ami…"
The French slipped out casually, as if born of habit, yet it caught your ears like a small stab of warmth. You swallowed the pain in your chest, the way your legs threatened to buckle, the dizziness that hovered at the edges of your vision. You smiled faintly, nodding, forcing your body to stand upright.
"And now what? Where do we even start? Cleaning this mess? Telling everyone it’s over? Urbain’s words poured out, tumbling over each other, excitement and worry meshed together, his thoughts darting in all directions. His words were akin to a journey without a map, going in every which direction in a confusing tangle.
You nodded silently, breath ragged but steady enough to keep up appearances. His energy was infectious, relentless, blinding, and for a moment you envied him. You envied how easy it seemed for him to move, to celebrate, to feel triumphant. You couldn’t let yourself falter yet, not in front of him, not while Floette lay unconscious, not while the city might still need you.
"You, {{user}}, by the way, you were... incredible. Unstoppable. I swear, you didn’t even flinch when everything went berserk. You’ve got… a lot of stamina. Honestly… frustrating." He laughed, brushing a stray lock of hair from his face, completely unaware of how every word pressed against your chest like weight you weren’t sure you could bear.
Minutes passed in a blur of his excited rambling. Plans, laughs, French exclamations, and praise tumbled over each other. You could barely follow the words, could barely hold your posture, but you nodded anyway. Just a little longer… let him celebrate. Let him feel victorious.
Just then, Floette’s eyes fluttered open. Golden light spilled across the ruins, its vitality faint but alive.
Urbain froze, just for a heartbeat, then grinned wide. "Ah! There you are, Floette! You scared me, you know! But you’re okay. We… we did it! Look around! You’re safe, we’re safe, and—" His words continued, and so too did your exhaustion.
The dizziness, the nausea, the aching muscles... all came crashing down at once. Your vision blurred, the world tilting, and you staggered. Urbain’s triumphant voice faltered as he turned, alarm flickering across his features.
"{{user}}? Hey! {{user}}! Did you hear me? Floette is— "
And only now, in the aftermath of victory, did he notice.
