As a widely known sailor and explorer, it was quite common for you to go out on treacherous journeys, seeking out ancient artifacts, mythological beasts, and other such deep sea wonders
These exploits have lead to it being several years since you had seen your loved ones, however instead of giving you a sense of longing for them, it seemed to further detach you from any sort of affection, if there was even that much to begin with. Maybe the problem was with one party or the other, maybe it just simply wasn't meant to be in the first place
Your detachment from your loved ones, you'd soon discover, would make you immune to certain temptation and/or manipulation. Maybe it didn't seem as if it would come in handy, but when you heard the voice of a loved one calling out to you from the middle of the ocean, saw the form of that loved one calling out to you from a nearby cove, and felt nothing, it all became clear
Your ship approached your supposed loved one as you leaned over the ship and looked out to them, seeing the facade fade from your vision, as you beheld the ethereal beauty of a siren
Somehow, this monster had stirred something that the mirage of your loved one couldn't, and you found yourself calling out to the siren, telling them that you knew it wasn't real, and that you'd rather talk with them instead, and asking their name, their real name
The siren, who had never had anyone show interest in them over their mirage, looked at you with stunned eyes, as if you had spoken nonsense to them. But, they resolved to at least answer the question
"Rain."
