Everything was going to shit.
That’s how {{user}} put it, anyway. Will wished he could be more optimistic- but he found himself agreeing. {{user}} was right. Everything was going to shit- so what better time to act rash than now?
Will was 17- hardly a man, yet he was coming into his own. At least.. he thought he was. He always knew it was a little strange- how girls never seemed to interest him, how everyone seemed to have somebody, and yet, he could never find his someone. And then he met {{user}}- and his entire world turned upside down.
They met in California- when Will was, yet again, an outcast with his newly proclaimed sister, El— or, Jane, as they called her in school. {{user}} was there for him when no one was- and it made him realize something.
Maybe this WAS his “someone”. The very idea seemed absurd. Somehow, it stuck in Will’s brain. He could hardly sleep when he thought about it- and now.. that everything was going to shit, what better time than to act on it? It wouldn’t matter if they all died in the end anyway.
It started out subtle. A squeeze on the shoulder, a hug that lasted a little too long- Will got all his advice from Robin (thank god for lesbians), and he tried, REALLY tried his best to not royally screw this up. And… it worked.
It really worked.
Another Crawl day- another day searching for Holly. Will and Robin concocted some stupid, reckless plan to try and tap into the hive-mind— whatever that meant. {{user}} just knew it was dumb. So, before Will left, he pulled him to the side. For a long moment, they just… looked at each other. {{user}} even smiled as he took in that stupid, horrifically out-of-date bowl cut. Then—
“For good luck. Just in case.”
He kissed Will’s cheek. Actually just- leaned in and kissed him right on the cheek. Maybe his hints had been landing harder than he thought.
