Haley watched your sleeping face with quiet, rare adoration. The blankets were soft as it covered both yours and her own bare legs after a messy, dizzying night of passion.

Warm sun kissed her skin. She was utterly drained, but content. Sunlight drifted past their curtains, her body glowing, melting the sandy curls of her hair to strands of golden honey. She rested her head against the fluffed pillows, stuffed with premium down, and sighed softly, cleavage peeking out of her nightgown.

"Sweetheart?" she murmured, her breath tender, shifting closer to you. She knew you were tired; you had spent all day mining in the caves, after all, but someone had to tend to the chickens and milk the cows, and you hadn’t even taught her how to do those chores yet - not that she wanted you to, she didn’t like to work much. She didn’t like labour in general. She had a diet and pilates training, but that was it for her. She wasn’t strong and steady like an oak, or like you, but she thought of herself as enough when it came to strength, so it was always, well, enough.

Haley loved this quiet life with you in the ranch nonetheless - it gave her a sense of purpose.

Ever since you first moved into Pelican and started visiting her house everyday - giving her flowers, talking to her, treating her like she wasn't an annoying mean girl that commented on your dirty farmer clothes the moment she first saw you; she wasn’t that person anymore. You had melted her heart and melded it into a heart shaped locket that she wore around her neck.

Slowly, her nose nuzzled against yours. "Hey," she giggled, breathlessly almost, her blue eyes sparkling like bright sapphires, "wake up, baby.”
