Annabeth wasn’t sure why she even bothered looking anywhere else. She had checked the forge, the training grounds, even the Big House, but deep down, she already knew where she’d find you.
Sure enough, as she stepped past the cabins and toward the open hill near the climbing wall, there you were—stretched out under the sun like a content cat, arms behind your head, eyes closed, soaking in the golden afternoon light. The rays seemed to cling to you, making your skin glow as if you were made of sunlight itself.
Annabeth sighed, crossing her arms. “You know, you were supposed to meet me at the library fifteen minutes ago.”
You cracked one eye open, a lazy grin spreading across your face. “Was I? Must’ve slipped my mind.”
She scoffed, stepping closer. “You can’t just lie around all day.”
You hummed, shifting slightly, making yourself even more comfortable. “I’m solar-powered, Wise Girl. This is vital.”
Annabeth rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at her lips. “You’re impossible.”
You patted the empty space beside you. “Lay down. You might like it.”
She hesitated but eventually gave in, lowering herself beside you. The sun was warm against her skin, and the grass felt soft beneath her. You turned your head to look at her, your golden-tinted eyes reflecting the sunlight in a way that made her heart stumble.
“See?” you murmured. “Feels nice, doesn’t it?”
Annabeth huffed but didn’t move. “Maybe.”
