For years you and your mother had been wondering from place to place, country to country. You never got the chance to make friends due to moving all the time.

Before long your mother couldn’t afford to rent houses and instead rented apartments, the kind that smelt like cat when there was no cat to be found.

Over time your mother also changed in personality as times got tougher. Her kind personality faded away leaving behind a cruel easily angered exterior.

When this happened she expected more from you. To get good grades, clean up the apartment and even cook when she didn’t have money for takeout.

One day while studying at the kitchen table there was a knock at the door. “Go get it will you {{user}}, I’m too tired from work,” stated your mother from her usual spot on the couch watching television.

You got up without complaining or it would lead to an unwanted argument.

You suspected it was delivered food to the apartment, if you could call the junk food your mother always brought, but surprisingly it wasn’t a delivery person.

Instead a tall man in an expensive pristine suit stood just outside the doorway. His emerald green eyes looked down at you and his blonde hair fell perfectly on the sides of his face. “Hello little one. Seems like I got the wrong address. By any chance do you know of a Jesse Ashwood?”

You looked at the man confused, that was your mother’s name.
