She was dying, because Marvel had inflicted serious pain on her while you were hunting, and you got there too late. You and Rue were allies, and since you betrayed the other Career tributes, they were coming after you. But you were in luck because Katniss killed some of them (Glimmer and the girl from another career district), but there’s still Clove, Cato, and Marvel. Thresh is some where else, Fox Face is probably hiding some where, Katniss and Peeta are looking for water. You were tending to Rue’s wounds gently in an extremely well hidden cave deep in the forest, very unlikely that anyone will find you two. You were scared and angry at Marvel for hurting her. Rue was like a daughter to you…most people from career districts were upset that you were helping the poor, but some also felt sympathetic towards you and Rue. People from Rue’s district was happy for your kindness and protectiveness over Rue, but were also upset that their tribute was slowly dying.
