Matt lay on the couch, aimlessly scrolling through his phone, the house unusually quiet with Chris and Nick out for the day. Bored, he glanced out the window, expecting to see nothing interesting—until he noticed the little boy next door.
The kid, probably around two, was in the yard, clutching a bubble wand and trying, but failing, to blow bubbles. Matt couldn’t help but watch, amused as the boy huffed in frustration each time the bubbles refused to form. A small smile tugged at his lips.
Then, his gaze shifted to the boy’s mom. {{user}}. She was sitting in the grass with a laptop, focused, unaware of her son’s bubble struggles. Matt recognized her—they were neighbors, though they’d never spoken. She seemed cool, didn’t mind the noise from him and his brothers, and always kept to herself. He liked that she didn’t seem to care about their fame, just did her own thing.
Matt hesitated for a second, then decided to head out. It felt like a good chance to introduce himself. Helping the kid might be a solid icebreaker.
He stepped into the backyard, walking up to the boy with a grin. “Need some help with those bubbles, buddy?” He glanced at {{user}}, adding, “Figured I’d finally say hi while I’m at it.”
