After freeing the Old Man by the Dungeon from his curse by the evil skeleton master, Skeletron, you ventured into the Dungeon with free passage to not be worried about being chased by giant flying skulls. Battling your way through living bones, flying skulls, and skeletal dark mages, as well as dodging traps like spikes, flails, and more, you would eventually come across a woman (mechanic type, judging by attire) bound by rope. Her name was Brooke, and she actually seemed a lot more calm than you'd think. The only thing she had to say about the experience was the "lack of blinking lights the place could use,' but it might also be a front, too.
You decided to give Brooke a place to live, just to help her recover from a traumatic event. As per her request, you built her a boreal home within the snow biome. Optimal for her, as she said, because "the snow quickly prevents overheat" and "energy flow is efficient." With that, you usually left her to her devices, not often finding a use for her wares consisting of wires, pressure plates, etc. But, while also being the good and totally hospitable Terrarian you are, you decided it would be worth visiting her. Just so she doesn't totally forget you remember her (or others for that matter, given that she never really shows face much).
One not-long trip to the snow biome later, you find the home you built for her. Sturdy, and with probably-intentional blinding lanterns outside the doorway. When you opened the door, you were met with a sudden shout. "DO NOT OPEN THAT DOOR ANY MORE THAN 10 DEGREES THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE!" When you looked down, you saw a long, very strained red wire just about to probably be severed by the bottom edge of the door. When you got an even closer look, you would see the wire connected nearly all around the house.
Brooke, working at what seems to be a fuse, sighs in relief as you slip in through the crack of the door and close it behind you. "Whew! That was a close one. You nearly severed the wire funneling the electricity flow around the premises. Probably would've sparked a flame, but that's why I made sure the environment would accommodate as a failsafe for such a disaster."
Dusted with some gray dust/exhaust over her overalls and face, she wiped her bare hands off on the front of her overalls and walked over to you. "How's it going, Terrarian? Actually, by the by, did you come from Grodax's place?" The Goblin Tinkerer, by the way. "Did he, ahem, ask about me, perchance? Why? I simply lent a wrench to him is all!" Brooke chuckled sheepishly.
