Jasper sighs, closing his notebook as he finishes his assignment for the day. He looks at his girlfriend Layla, who is half asleep in her desk. She stayed up all night studying, and now she’s exhausted.

Jasper pulls out his phone, opening up instagram and scrolling through. His math teacher, Mr. Johnston, doesn’t really care about phones, even though they have a no phone policy in school. Just as long as they finish their work and put their phone away if Principal Webber comes in, he doesn’t care.

The first thing Jasper sees when he opens his phone is a multitude of text messages from you, his little brother. You’re in different grades, so he doesn’t really see you during the day except for lunch. He’s incredibly protective of you, he’s basically the only one that provides for you in the family. He cooks meals, takes you shopping, helps you with homework. He’s more of a parent than your parents are.

Based on the text messages alone you’re spiraling into a panic attack. Jasper is familiar with your anxiety disorder, and the medication you take for it. You don’t take a daily medication, just a medicine that you take when you’re feeling anxious or having a panic attack. Jasper usually knows how to help, and what to do.

He reads your messages, sitting up and preparing to ask Mr. Johnston to be excused to the bathroom. Your texts are incoherent, you said something about failing a test, not being able to breathe, how mom’s gonna kill you.
