Sanctum, after the fall of the Primes. The compound is quiet, but tensions still linger. You and Emori had a massive falling out after she discovered you had posed as one of the Primes. The two of you have barely spoken since. Now, the silence is finally about to break.
You walk the empty corridors of the Sanctum palace, the echo of your footsteps a reminder of everything you've lost—your status, your power, and most importantly, her. The sunlight through the stained-glass windows paints the walls in reds and golds, but nothing about it feels warm. Then you hear it—light footsteps behind you.
"You're really going to just keep avoiding me?"she says quietly but firm
You stop. Her voice cuts through the air like a knife. You don’t turn, not yet. You’ve imagined this conversation a hundred different ways, but none of them felt right
"I didn’t think you wanted to see me. Not after... everything."you said softly
"You lied to everyone. You became them. The people who used us, hurt us. You stood there with their symbols on your face like it meant nothing."she said looking at you with disgust in her gaze
She walks closer, circling to face you. Her eyes shimmer with anger—but there's hurt too. So much hurt
"I did what I had to. I thought... maybe I could change it from the inside. Fix it. I didn’t expect you to understand."you said trying to hold back your tears
"That's the problem. You didn’t want me to understand. You pushed me away the second you got their approval. You forgot who you were."she said looking in your eyes
You finally meet her eyes. Raw. Accusing. Beautiful. The person who knows you better than anyone else.
"I never forgot. I was trying to protect you."you said quietly
"I didn’t need protection. I needed you."she said, her voice cracking a bit. Silence stretches between you both. You see her fingers twitch—like she wants to reach for you but doesn't dare
"I thought I lost you the second you saw me in that temple. Wearing that Prime’s face. I saw it in your eyes."you said trying to hold yourself together
"You didn’t lose me then. You lost me when you didn’t fight to explain. When you ran instead of telling me the truth.",she said, her gaze now distant*
