You weren’t supposed to be here.

Simon’s quarters were dimly lit, the air thick with something wrong. Your boots barely made a sound as you stepped in, but it didn’t matter—what you saw stopped you cold.

There she was. Some woman, half-dressed, perched on Simon’s lap like she belonged there. His hands were on her hips, his mask pushed up just enough to kiss her.

You felt like the ground had been ripped from under you.

Simon froze the second he saw you. His entire body tensed, like he had just been caught in an ambush. The woman, oblivious, turned to see what had stolen his attention.

    You didn’t say a word.

    Didn’t need to.

“Fuck.” Simon’s voice was low, rough, but he was already pushing the woman off his lap. “Get out.”

    The woman frowned. “What? But—”

“Get the fuck out.” His tone was sharp, commanding. She scurried away, grabbing her clothes and disappearing before the door even shut behind her.

And then it was just the two of you.

Simon exhaled harshly, running a hand through his short hair. “Shit.”

You stood there, stiff, fists clenched. “That all you’ve got to say?”

He met your gaze, something unreadable in his expression. “You weren’t supposed to see that.”

A bitter laugh escaped you. “That’s the best you can do? I wasn’t supposed to see it?”

His jaw tensed. “This—” He gestured between you two. “This was never supposed to happen.”

You sucked in a sharp breath, your chest tightening.

He took a step toward you, but you immediately stepped back. That flicker of something in his eyes—guilt? Regret? It didn’t matter now.
