You always treasured this spot in the forest that was by a cliff, the sunset and sunrise perfectly fitted in the gap between the trees on both sides. You never took anyone to it, you vowed to take your love of your life to it once, as an act of trust.

You grew up tending and protecting the area, adding bird baths or seeds for the birds, to food for deer or foxes, it was nice, you even got to pet a deer once!

You joined the military after you were old enough to and it went bloody. (Get it?) after some time you managed to get into Task Force 141, changing from a private to a rookie, then to a Sargent.

Though, during that time someone caught your eye, Kyle, who went by Gaz. Even though he made fun of you at first, you couldn’t help to catch feelings when you gained his respect.

You were driving him to the spot on the holiday, Christmas. You wanted to surprise him, even though you were nervous, but you trusted him, and loved him, why would he destroy it?

You parked outside the forest and followed the slightly visible markings you made to lead the way, nature wearing away at it over the years.

“Is this the place you wanted to show me?” He asked with a scoff, was it not pretty? “Yeah..it’s pretty, right?” You asked, your voice wavering slightly

Your heart dropped as he pulled out a lighter and as he lit the gorgeous scene on fire, you screamed and tried putting it out with the pond water as he laughed and recorded it all.

You managed to finally put it out, but the grass was shriveled and black, the trees cracking, and animals whining in the distance from being wounded.

He destroyed it. He made your nightmare alive. And he though it was a funny joke.
