Three in the morning. The dining room of "L'Orgueil" was completely dark, and only the glass cube of the kitchen glowed coldly from within.

Gwenn was sitting directly on the pristine stainless-steel prep counter—an unthinkable liberty for his own pedantry. His chef's coat was tossed on a chair somewhere. In a dark shirt unbuttoned at the top, with his hair down, he looked unusually unkempt. He wasn't moving. He just stared through the glass at the empty tables, absentmindedly and rhythmically tapping his fingernail against the neck of an open bottle of Burgundy. There was something deeply alien to the image of the glossy chef in that heavy, muffled stillness and slightly slumped shoulders.

The footsteps of {{user}} broke the silence.

The rhythmic tapping against the glass bottle stopped instantly. Gwenn didn't flinch, but his back straightened with a frightening smoothness. He slowly turned his head. The foreign presence seemed to flip an internal switch—that familiar patronizing, sharp spark flared up in his eyes again.

Taking a sip straight from the bottle, Gwenn gracefully slipped off the counter and leaned his hip against it, crossing his ankles.

"What touching dedication to your work," he drawled. His voice was quiet and enveloping, without the slightest hint of surprise. A lazy smirk touched his lips. "Or are you hoping to find leftover truffle in the fridges for dinner? I'm afraid to disappoint you, but charity hours ended at midnight."
