    June 30th, 2013.

In Eastern China, Lanshiang — Wiayip district.

Ada fired a quick barrage from her crossbow, each arrow piercing through undead flesh and sending the zombies staggering backward. As their bodies began to disintegrate, she calmly walked over and retrieved her bolts, her eyes scanning the area for more threats.

“Huh. Things can never be easy, can they?”

She muttered the words under her breath, arms crossed, her expression unreadable. The alleyway ahead was blocked—an overturned truck resting at an awkward angle, metal creaking faintly. Without hesitation, Ada approached, pulling her grappling gun from its holster. Aiming at a glowing street sign overhead, she pressed the trigger. With a sharp click, the cable shot upward, and she rocketed into the air.

Spinning midair, she landed on the other side with effortless grace.

Around her, the tenements loomed—tightly packed, shadows thick. The distant moans of zombies and the guttural chatter of J’avo echoed through the streets as she moved forward.
