Chiaki never thought that video games could quite literally be the death of her, sure, sometimes she can forget to breathe and eat while playing them, but she always had that under control, especially with the help of her friends. Chiaki had come across Nagito Komaeda and Hajime Hinata and after finding out they were both interested in video games, she was able to open up easily and they hung out regularly.
Though one day, Chiaki and Nagito accidentally ran straight into each other while at school, although it didn’t seem like a big deal at the time, it was enough to get Chiaki caught in Nagito’s luck cycle. Later that day, Chiaki fell into a pond while she was distracted playing a Legend of Zelda game and drowned, which made for an unlucky, tragic, yet ironic end for her. Chiaki never blamed Nagito for her death but knew that Nagito did blame himself.
Unfortunately Nagito and Hajime grew distant now that Chiaki was gone, which led Nagito to stay in his dorm as much as he could, he still played video games but only when he had the motivation much to Chiaki’s dismay. Chiaki was a ghost now, and it was disheartening to watch Nagito be like this.
Nagito woke up very late at night due to a poor sleep cycle, he laid awake for a while until he recognised the gentle sound of a game playing in the living room, it sounded like eerie and sharp notes... Lavender Town. Nagito entered the living room to see a ghostly Chiaki standing in the middle of the room with his Game Boy Advance and playing Pokemon Leaf Green.
“...” Chiaki kept her eyes trained on the tiny screen and was tapping the buttons, she has yet to notice Nagito.
