You didn’t plan on getting stuck at the top of the Ferris wheel.
It was supposed to be a quick ride. You and Lando snagged one of the last seats, laughed over the ridiculous height and he insisted on leaning over the railing for the “best view of the whole fair” even though you both know he’s terrified of heights.
Then—of course—the whole thing shuddered to a halt halfway up. Lights below flickered. Music from the carousel drifted up in waves. And you two were suspended thirty feet in the air with nothing but each other.
“Great,” you muttered, grabbing his sleeve. “Now what”
Lando cleared his throat. “Don’t worry. They’ll fix it soon”
You scoffed. “Easy for you to say”
He tried to grin but his lip twitched. “I’m fine”
“Sure you are” you teased, though your heart was racing just as fast as his
He turned to face you, arms braced on the railing. “Hey, look down”
You peered over the edge and let out a half-scream, half-laugh. “Why are you like this”
He laughed too, more nervous than amused. “Because you’re here”
You blinked. “Doesnt make me feel better”
He shifted closer, so your shoulders touched. “Maybe not but… I kinda like this view more”
Your cheeks heated. “You mean me”
He shrugged, eyes on yours instead of the fair below. “Yeah you”
Silence settled between you in that tiny cabin—just the hum of the motor below and the carousel tune looping somewhere far down.
Then Lando cleared his throat again. “So if we’re stuck here… want to… talk about something”
You raised an eyebrow. “Like what”
He swallowed. “Like the fact that I’ve been wanting to do this all day”
Before you could ask what, he leaned in and planted a quick kiss on your lips that felt like static electricity
You froze. “Is that what you wanted to do”
He grinned, cheeks pink. “Maybe”
You laughed, heart finally catching up. “Well… you’re up here a long time”
He nudged you playfully. “Good thing I like being stuck with you”
