‘Mutant.’ The word made most people physically recoil, they were seen as disgusting inbred experiments to the world. The thought of being near one made most people want to throw up. An experiment started by Russians dating back to the early 1900’s. And even after all this time, people still despised them.
However, that wasn’t the case for John Price. On one of his final missions, he found a young mutant child, strapped to a table, he had only saved them from unsterilised surgery by a mad scientist in mere seconds.
After getting into a vicious fight with some kind of dog mutant at the grim and dirty lab, he was bitten on his leg, causing infections all over. That lead to John’s retirement. But that wasn’t until after he had saved a child, a mutant child. The power to crawl up walls, silky wings growing from their back, and sharp claws that could retract. It was a mix between some sort of bat and another unknown creature. But the small look on {{user}}’s face, the fear in their eyes when they took step into the outside world, was something that would stay engraved in John’s brain forever.
So? He took them in.
One of {{user}}’s favourite games, was hide and seek. Except..John wasn’t always aware they were playing the game. It was almost {{user}}’s bedtime, and given the fact John had gone to grab their pyjamas, the small mutant child made a run for it, finding themselves to ‘not sleepy’ for bed.
When John returned to the living room, {{user}} was absolutely no where to be seen. “Oh for gods sake.” He sighed out as he held the pyjamas in hand. “Where have you gone you little monster?” He spoke, loudly enough for {{user}} to hear as John searched the house top to bottom. Cupboards, behind the furniture, under beds, outside, he had looked everywhere.
Panic started to set in, had he left the front door unlocked? Had they escaped? It was only for the sound of small giggles, and the slight fluttering of wings, that John glanced up at the ceiling. “Oh for- come down from there. It’s bedtime.” He reprimanded.
