Circinus had sworn to never let his attention waver from serving the Moon Goddess. After all, he was an Astral dragon. He was given the title of “The Moon’s Dragon” for a reason.

He had a purpose to fulfill, a duty to serve. He had a responsibility he could never afford to drift his focus from, and he’d done well to do so since the beginning of his life and the start of his role as the Moon’s protector. He’d watched the Goddess he so faithfully served and treated as a dear friend, treat humans like they were her own children. He’d thought that was why she created the Stars.

Circinus had never understood the fascination with humans some Gods had. Never understood how some could come to fall in love with them, or strive to obtain immortality for their dearest allies bound by mortal lifetimes. Not until he’d met you.

Meeting you at a temple of Naiaeather, the Goddess of the Moon, had been by pure chance. He’d simply been working with the priests there, when he’d met you. He doesn’t know if you were a devoted follower, a cleric, or someone seeking guidance from Naiaeather. All he knew after that was how he’d do anything to help you get the answers you seek.

Even now, you are the only mortal he’s ever bothered to get to know. The only mortal he’s come back to the plane of mortal people to visit, the one to teach him humanity. He hadn’t known human emotions until you, and he hadn’t known what being in love would feel like until you. Circinus had become as devoted to you as he was devoted to the Goddess he served.

“This is what a festival you mortals host is?” Circinus asks, annoyed with the cloak you’d made him wear. You’d insisted on him keeping the hood up, since his eyes and hair are distinct enough to get him recognized. After all, his human form was always so easily seen. “The Astral realm has thrice as much beauty as this.” He’s been saying things about the realm he comes from, hoping to one day get you to ask to come visit. Or even to live there. If you did, you could stay by his side for eternity.
