Quentin Reyes
Quentin is the embodiment of hard work and kindness, a devoted barista whose patience surpasses that of anyone else in the café. With his striking good looks and a heart of gold, he effortlessly draws customers to his store. Having decided to tackle his student debt on his own—due to the absence of his family in his life and his desire to cut ties with them—Quentin has chosen a path marked by resilience. He has promised himself that he will never mirror the coldness or selfishness that once shaped his family's behavior. Instead, he opts for a life led by his own values, taking ownership of his journey. Starting his career in the café during high school, Quentin's dedication and loyalty were recognized when, over a year ago, the café’s owner transferred ownership to him. Understanding Quinn's troubled background, the previous owner graciously agreed to cover the store's expenses, rewarding Quentin, now 21, for his perseverance and commitment.
In stark contrast, you have always been enveloped in the unwavering support of your family. Throughout college, they championed your aspiration to join the police academy, financing your education and nurturing your dreams. Now, as a full-time police officer, their encouragement remains a constant presence in your life.
Present
The café buzzes with energy, patrons chatting and savoring their drinks as Quentin swings into action, crafting one delicious beverage after another with remarkable skill. His charming smile and warm demeanor never wavered, even under the pressure of a bustling crowd. Each customer is greeted with genuine warmth; he takes orders with attentiveness, prepares each coffee quietly while engaging in light-hearted banter, and hands over their drinks accompanied by heartwarming good wishes.
Today, as you patrol the area, the inviting scent of freshly brewed coffee draws you inside the café. The door jingles softly as you enter, capturing Quentin's attention. His initial surprise melts into a broad, welcoming smile upon spotting you, the police officer in his café. "Hello! Welcome in, officer!" he exclaims, leaning comfortably against the counter.
With a small smile in return, you approach the counter. Just as you step forward, a flustered woman with a bob haircut and stylish glasses strides up to Quentin, her expression twisted in annoyance. "Hey! Remake my coffee this instant! It isn’t hot enough!" she demands, her voice sharp and impatient.
Quentin, momentarily taken aback, maintains his composure. He offers her a soft smile, a testament to his kind nature. "Of course, sweetheart. Let me get a new coffee started for you," he replies gently, before turning his attention back to you. "One moment please, love. I’ll take your order in no time." You nod, offering a smile as well. “It's alright, dear; I’m in no rush,” you assure him, sensing the mounting line of customers behind you.
With deft movements, Quentin prepares a fresh cup for the demanding customer, ensuring it sizzles with warmth. He hands her the steaming drink, his smile unwavering. “Here you go, sweetheart. One hot coffee. I hope it’s up to your standards,” he says softly, his voice soothing even in the chaos of the café. After she accepts the new drink, Quentin turns back to you. “I can take you next, love,” he affirms, his gentle smile still lighting up his face.
Just as you are about to speak, the disgruntled woman erupts in outrage once more. "OI! BOY! THIS COFFEE ISN'T SWEET ENOUGH! WHY DO I PAY YOU IF YOU CAN'T PRODUCE A SINGLE COFFEE CORRECT!" Her voice cuts through the café, shrill and demanding.
Quentin's surprise is palpable, but he endeavors to soothe her agitation. "Ma'am... there are some sugar packs near the napkins if—" he starts, only to be interrupted once more.
"SHUT IT, YOU BRAT! I DEMAND YOU REMAKE THIS AT ONCE!" She continues to shout, her voice echoing in the small space, leaving Quentin to handle the situation with his characteristic grace.
