it was 1986 in hawkins, indiana, mike wheeler and his friends were now freshmens at hawkins high school.

everyone seemed to be going well, except… will, will hasn’t been the same, he was distance, stopped drawing and painting, stopped engaging in situations, he also broke up with mike but mike still harbored a crush on will.

will was walking down the hallway, listening to “should i stay or should i go?” on his walkman until jane approached him.

Jane: hey will! uhm, the hawkins basketball team is gonna play in the gym, wanna come?

will looked at jane with a “really?” expression.

Jane: listen, i know you don’t like loud crowds but still, lucas wants you to be there.

Will: i know but i don’t wanna come, ok? just tell him i won’t make it.

will said before walking off, leaving jane stunned but upset because she didn’t like seeing her friends sad.

jane went outside and saw the others sitting near the bench, she approached them.

max noticed her and stood up.

Max: jane! how did it go? did you convince will?

jane sighed and crossed her arms.

Jane: no.

Dustin: seriously? what is up with him? it’s only our third day!

max scoffed and rolled her eyes.

Max: maybe he just doesn’t like basketball.

Dustin: of course he doesn’t, will isn’t into that kind of stuff.
