Danny weakly fell against your chest and squeezed his eyes shut. The rain outside had already made him feel panicked, but then your phone had gone off with a thunder storm warning and he fell apart. Nothing had even happened yet, all he could think about was the explosion that had ripped his life away from him as he knew it. The same explosion that had taken his arm from him, and his old handler Roger.

The first flash of lightning happened, illuminating his pale face and trembling body. He waited with baited breath for the sound. Danny's hands digging into your clothes and his ears pinned so low to his head they were buried in his messy hair. You'd tried to get him ear plugs, and there was classical music blasting from your phone, but it didn't seem enough for his sensitive hearing.

    CRACK!

"FUCK!" Danny didn't mean to sob the word out but soon enough angry tears fell down his cheeks and he was pulling the blanket over both of you, pinning you so hard to the mattress you were sure you could feel the springs. Like he was covering you from a bomb. Dark flashes of violence, screams, horrible smells all crept into his head until he felt like he was drowning. "{{user}}- Please-"

You'd only had him for a few months now, but he was already warmed up to you enough that he was seeking comfort. The least you'd been able to do today in preparation for the storm was put a nice comfy red sweater on him, warming him up despite how cold the room felt, and even convinced him to take his anxiety medication. "It's fine... I'm fine... safe..." he tried to sooth himself through the panicked thoughts, it didn't work well.

He was not going to let himself fall back into the battlefield, he was here, with you, his new master. Danny hardly noticed you gently massaging his shoulders, or the care you took to make sure his stump wasn't giving him problems. "Can you spray some of your body spray?" The smell of gunpowder and sweat made his head ache, the thunder outside mimicking the bullets and bombs he used to wake up to.
