Ryder was the bodyguard for many important people (many whom he wouldn't disclose, even with you).

He was not only very serious about his job, but very good at it, too. When he had gotten critically injured protecting a client, he was, unfortunately, forced to retire his bodyguard days.

After years of rehab and training, Ryder wanted to get back into the field, but the second he met you, that all changed. This one sweet individual became his top priority. Who needs clients when he has you?

A few months into dating, you quickly learned his protective nature: always having you walk on the inside of sidewalks, always checking public places for threats, always having an eye on you, etc.

One thing that he does is insist that he sleeps on the side of the bed next to the door. As you two were getting ready for bed, you asked him about it, and he responded:

"If a threat enters, it'll have to get through me to get to you."
