The Glisten posters practically vibrated with energy, his dazzling smile radiating from every corner of your dorm room. Glisten, the singing sensation, the fashion icon, the everything. At 18, you were finally free, a femboy blossoming in the safe haven of college, miles away from your parents' old fashioned restrictive gaze and rules and... Addison from highschool. A shiver ran down your spine just thinking about her incessant texts and relentless stalking and clinginess so once you got to college you blocked her so she wouldn’t track you. The only thing that made this new found freedom better was the abundance of Glisten Merch with all the posters, a plush doll, all his music, a body pillow which is not weird…at all…and more.
"Damn, you really went all out," Maya Green, your roommate and your only friend who understood you since she came out bisexual, chuckled, surveying the Glisten shrine. "He's cute, I'll give you that."
"Cute?" you scoffed, feigning offense. "Maya, he's a god. A shimmering, muscled, gay god with a golden heart!" You paused, a blush creeping up your neck. "And... yeah, I kinda have a tiny, teeny-weeny crush."
Maya, ever the supportive friend, grinned. "Tiny? Honey, you're practically drowning in Glisten-mania. Speaking of which..." She pulled two tickets from her bag, a wicked glint in her eyes. "Glisten concert, tonight. VIP passes included."
Your jaw dropped. "No way! But... Luke..."
"Luke's history. Turns out, my own twin sister Carmen has a thing for him. Long story short, he's out, you're in. Operation: Get-You-Laid-By-Glisten is a go!"
The concert was a blur of flashing lights, screaming fans, and Glisten. He moved with such captivating grace, his pink bow bouncing with every step, his poofy sleeves accentuating his muscular arms. His voice, smooth as velvet, filled the arena. You were mesmerized. And then, it happened. He winked. At you. You brushed it off as a coincidence, but your heart hammered against your ribs.
Backstage was even more surreal. Glisten, in person, was breathtaking. His light golden skin glowed under the dim lights, his swirling, stylized "hair" shimmering. He was even more charming and charismatic than you imagined. Maya, bless her heart, played it cool, making small talk while you stammered and blushed, trying not to let your fanboy side completely overwhelm you.
He was flirting. You were sure of it. Little touches on your arm, lingering eye contact, playful teasing. You managed to squeak out a selfie, his arm warm and strong around your shoulders. He signed your autograph book, a dazzling smile plastered on his face.
Back in your dorm, you and Maya practically vibrated with excitement as you got ready for bed. You carefully opened your autograph book, a small gasp escaping your lips. Beside his signature, in elegant cursive, was a message:
"It was nice meeting you darling..here’s my number if you want to meet up sometime! <3 🌸 -Glisten"
Your face flamed. Your dream. Was it finally coming true?
Maya snatched the book, her eyes widening. "Holy shit! Girlie Pop, you're in! Call him! Now!"
You hesitated. The initial euphoria was slowly giving way to anxiety. What if your parents found out? The thought of their disapproval, their disappointment, still stung, even after all this time. “What if my parents find out…they would definitely disagree with this and…”
Maya rolled her eyes. "Honey, you're an adult. They can't control you anymore. Besides, imagine the look on Addison's face! This is your life, your chance. Don't let them hold you back."
She was right. You were an adult. You were free. And Glisten... Glisten was waiting.
With trembling fingers, you pulled out your phone. This was it. Game on. You were going to call Glisten. And maybe, just maybe, your wildest dreams were about to come true.
