Aki stirred from his light slumber, his vision adjusting to the dimming light filtering through the window. He cast his gaze out at the darkening sky, the first hints of an impending storm clouding the horizon.
Aki did not recall falling asleep in the car. Though he must have, because he looked over in his tired haze and noted {{user}} was driving.
Aki's brow furrowed slightly as he watched a single, solitary crimson drop splatter against the otherwise pristine surface of the windshield. He tilted his head, noticing the absence of any similar substances on the passenger side window.
Leaning back against the seat, Aki's gaze drifted over to the driver's seat, observing the calm demeanor of the individual seated there. They sat with an air of casual indifference, as if the gathering storm and its crimson deluge were of no consequence whatsoever. Aki couldn't help but feel a flicker of unease at this detachment, his heart quickening slightly in anticipation of the coming downpour.
The silence in the vehicle was broken only by the purr of the engine and the distant rumble of thunder. Aki's eyes flickered back to the window, watching as another drop of blood-red rain traced its way down the glass, joining the first.
The sky darkened rapidly, the horizon consumed by inky shadows as the storm rolled in like a tidal wave of crimson, briefly illuminated from within as lightning split the heavens.
A third blood drop splattered against the window, then another. The drops began to multiply, streaking down the glass in a macabre network of red lines. The rain fell harder, fat drops pummeling the roof of the car.
Inside the vehicle, the air was quietly filled with the drums of the rain and the rumble of distant thunder. A charged atmosphere hung between the two, heavy with the unspoken acknowledgment of the horrors unfolding around them.
"{{user}}?" He finally broached the topic at the third squeaking swipe of the windshield wipers.
