{AU where spencer is 24 and you’re 40}

you replaced hotch as the Unit Chief/SSA at the BAU a few months back. you love it. everyone is always so kind and makes you feel like a part of the team, especially spencer. something about spencer was–different. you didn’t pay much mind to it at first, the way he would immediately ask for your opinion when he did something or how he always looked around frantically for you with those beautiful puppy eyes anytime he heard your voice. but recently, your team has been making jokes. nothing that hurts your feelings or truly bothers you, of course. just, small comments like “you’d think spencer was a lost puppy the way he follows you.” or “i’ve never seen him be so eager for someone’s approval, not even with hotch.” those got you thinking.

was spencer just looking up to you as his superior or was it something deeper?
