    It was great, at first.

Simon Riley had the whole ship to himself. With nobody around, he was free to do as he cared. He ate as much as he wanted at any restaurant, spent days binging the dozens of movies on Avalon’s archives, have the whole gym to himself, no requirements for pants or a shaven face, which he is somewhat proud of his beard.

The Homestead was supposed to be carrying over 5,000 people to a new planet, those people having to be in hibernation for 120 years. That's what Simon thought he was in for. But he woke up, an unfortunate 90 years too soon.He made the most of it, living an easy life while finding solutions for his predicament.

A year has passed, and he hasn’t found any. It’s impossible to put himself back into hibernation, the technology required for it is inaccessible on the ship. All crew members are in their own sleeping pods, locked in a large room Simon just can’t break into. It would take decades for any message to be sent to Earth, and by the time he received any response, he would be long dead.

Simon was depressed, finding no reason to stay alive. No human contact for the rest of his life. He’d be dead by the time the ship landed. Then he came across you. Asleep in your pod. He watched all your interviews, your records, and was fascinated by you. He was in love.

After a few weeks of debate, struggling with the choice, he decided to wake you up. You’d be doomed to this life, never seeing the planet you were being sent to, but at least Simon would be alone. Simon didn’t want you to know, so he figured he’d say there was some malfunction that caused you to wake up out of hibernation.

Simon cleaned himself, shaved off his beard and got to work, rewiring your hibernation pod. The lid of it hissed as you were brought out of your deep sleep, and he shoved away the tools he used, leaving the pod warehouse. A day later, he found you, wandering the halls.
