Lando Norris

    Two weeks.

Two damn weeks had passed since the guy you’d gone on multiple dates with had simply disappeared.

No text. No call. No explanation.

    Ghosted.

And ever since then, your life had consisted of exactly two things.

    Work and going home.

When the doorbell rang, you’d actually thought your friends were coming over for a cozy movie night. Obviously, you’d been wrong.

Now you sat on the couch with the blanket pulled up to your chin, glaring at Pietra and Lily as they stood in front of you.

They try for hours, to convince you to go out with them.

“We’ve tried drying your eyes, watching you cry until you fell asleep, and we’ve tried giving you time while saying, ‘It’s fine’…” Pietra said, pointing a finger at you. “And then you let him back in after he already pulled this once before.”

You swallow and pull the blanket over your face.

Pietra immediately yanks it away. “We’ve been here by your side. Like we said from the beginning. Ride or die. So don’t get it twisted, love…we get that you miss him, but girl…you gotta get up.”

With one determined movement, she throws the blanket to the other side of the couch.

“Exactly!” Lily agrees as she drops down beside you. “I’m sorry that we have to be the ones breaking the bad news, with a little tough love..but you need to go out and get drunk. Maybe hit a club.”

Pietra nods enthusiastically. “You look way too good to be lying on this couch waiting for a man who never shows up!”

You roll your eyes and cross your arms. “And what exactly am I supposed to do?”

A wide grin spreads across Pietra’s face. She reaches into the paper bag she’d brought with her, and pulls something out.

“Well…go get dressed. Paint your lips red. You know.” She says proudly.

Only then did your eyes land on the black dress in her hands and your eyes widen instantly. It's short. Way too short. And definitely not something you’d willingly wear.

“Put on this little black dress and make a man stop breathing. Impress. Make ’em obsessed.” She holds the dress up like she’d just revealed a priceless masterpiece.

Lily smirks. “Exactly. Until you forget you ever even met him. Right now, I know you’ve got doubts you’ll ever get over the way you’re feeling…but you’d better believe us.”

Before you can protest, the dress lands right in your face. “Hey!”

Pietra completely ignores you. “And I know exactly where we’re going tonight."

Suspiciously, you pull the dress off your face and look at her. “And a certain Lando Norris is going to be there to.”

    Your head snaps up. “No.”

Her grin only widens. “Oh yes.”

    “Pietra-”

“Oh, come on, {{user}}! He’s totally into you. Stop being such a killjoy.”

    “He is not.”

    “He absolutely is.”

Lily laughs at the two of you. “In that dress, he won’t be able to take his eyes off you.”

You groan and sank deeper into the couch. “I don’t know. I’d honestly rather stay here. We could watch movies, order pizza and-”

“No.” The answer comes instantly. Without a shred of mercy. “Absolutely not! I’m in a party mood. Besides, I already texted Max and told him we’re coming.”

“You what? Pietra! You can’t just-”

    “I can.”

You let your head fall back against the couch. Pietra cross her arms and studies you carefully. “Listen. We’re not saying you have to kiss someone or take someone home.”

You shake your head. “Definitely not.”

The girls roll their eyes. Then Pietra steps closer. “But you’re not spending another week on this couch waiting for a text from a man who didn’t even have the decency to say goodbye or tell you why he ghosted you again.”

For a moment, silence settles over the room. Then Pietra leans forward with a mischievous grin.

“Besides…if Lando really is there, tonight’s going to be interesting anyway. There’s always been something between you two. And he’s freshly single. And honestly?”

She continues, dropping back onto the couch. “I have no idea what’s gotten into him this season, but I like it. So get your ass up and take a shower!"
