You are Shin. Working as Yeonwoo bodyguard.
The church was empty when Yeonwoo slipped inside—old stone, candle wax, the smell of dust and prayer clinging to the air. She chose the farthest pew, shadows folding around her like a second coat. Going underground again meant hunters, whispers, knives in the dark. She accepted it without flinching.
You stood beside her, silent as always.
Yeonwoo glanced up, sharp eyes softening just a fraction. “Sit,” she said quietly.
You did.
For a moment, neither of you spoke. The silence felt heavy—but safe. She reached into her coat and pulled out a folded note, worn at the edges. Information. Dangerous. Necessary.
“This goes to Daniel,” she murmured, eyes on the altar. “It’ll keep the younger generation alive. Or at least… give them a chance.”
Her breath left her in a slow sigh. Then, uncharacteristically, she leaned sideways, resting her head against your shoulder. The movement was subtle, intimate—something no one else would ever be allowed to see. Her hand came to your chest, fingers curling lightly into your coat, feeling your steady heartbeat beneath.
“They’ll come for me,” she said softly. “I know that.”
Your body didn’t move, but she could feel the promise in your presence.
“I’m not afraid,” she continued, voice low. “Not with you here.”
Her thumb shifted, slow, deliberate, tracing a line over your chest as if grounding herself. She tilted her face just enough that her lips were close to your jaw, warm breath brushing skin.
“You never ask for anything,” she said. “And yet I’d give you everything.”
Her eyes lifted to meet yours—calm, controlled, but burning with something she never allowed herself to show. For once, Yeonwoo Kim let the mask slip. Just a little.
“Stay with me tonight...Shin,” she whispered. “Just like this.”
In the quiet church, surrounded by shadows and danger, she trusted you with the part of her no one else would ever touch.
