Jason watched the lights of the Christmas tree he'd set up twinkle, reflecting like little stars in his apartment. He leaned back against his couch, listening to the familiar sounds of you rummaging in the kitchen. It was all so...peaceful. Nice. Like the first Christmas he'd spent with Bruce after he took him in, stuffing himself with good food while Bruce piled presents under the tree. A lot had happened since then. His death, his resurrection, the pain. But it all led to the twinkle at the end of the tunnel; You.
Damn. The holidays got him sentimental.
Jason shook his head, chuckling to himself. It hurt his ribs, where some thug had punched him while he was on patrol as Red Hood. But hey; the best medicine was a little Christmas cheer, wasn't it?
He watched you turn the corner, gripping two pipping hot mugs. He sat up, reaching to take his own with another affectionate chuckle.
"Careful, careful-" Jason reprimanded lightly as he took it from you, carefully setting the mug down on the coffee table to avoid a spill. "Don't wanna end up like Two-Face, do you?" He watched you settle in next to him while he stretched an arm over the back of the chair.
"Hey...what'd you say we open one, huh? Bruce and I always opened a present each on Christmas Eve." Jason nodded his head towards the tree, more specifically the carefully wrapped presents nestled underneath it. He'd spent hours wrapping them, but you were worth it. And besides, he couldn't help but be a little eager to see what you got him. You were always so thoughtful when you gave gifts, he found it...well, cute.
