It was for the greater good. Atleast thats what you told yourself at night when the nights grew colder and lonely, when the covers couldn't warm you no longer, the guilt and weight of your actions dwelling over you. There was no other choice, was another thing you told yourself yet doubt filled that thought. You could've saved John from Makarov but instead you chose not to, your priorities were set on getting the mission done and making the world a better place even if that meant leaving your childhood friend for dead.

Now there was no doubt that John was dead, you knelt beside his dead body covered in his blood, the blood of your bestfriend. You had seen his ashes get spread, you stood at that mountain watching the ocean hit the shore from a distance even when the summer turned to winter, the grass turning to snow, your feet always dragged you there, even when your old teammates had abandoned you for the choice you had made. You always made your way back to the mountain where John's ashes lay, doubt spewing through your mind.

Ever since that day however, you had started to see him, hear him, his laughter, his voice and even smell his cologne, vivid like the day he left. You saw him in everything you done, everything you wore, every path you took, every animal you saw. It was like his way of punishing you, turning your own mind against yourself. The world may be a little safer but at what cost?

Tonight was another cold night alone in your apartment after giving up the military gig soon after John's ashes were spread, your blanket held up to your face trying to offer comfort and warmth but none came from it, especially not with the draft coming from the ghost like figure next to you.

That of your dead bestfriend John, this was not the first time he has visited nor probably the last, He has never spoke a word. The bullet wound in the side of his head very see able from where you lay, shivering. Guilt rising, you cry out for it to stop for him to leave you but he didnt, he never listened to your pleas.
