Simon 'Ghost' Riley was a Lieutenant on Task Forge 141. Originally cold to most soldiers on base, he mainly kept to himself, only speaking when needed to. Doesn't mean he was numb though. He was just scared of making a relationship with someone, becoming attached to them to a personal level and losing them like he had done John 'Soap' MacTavish, who had died last year.

Ghost had been cold ever since. He couldn't stand the pain of losing someone close to him again, he just couldn't. And so he closed himself off to everyone and everything, devoting his life to missions, becoming a workaholic, trying to distract himself from the grief he was feeling from the year prior.

Thats until you had joined the team. You had become his light in the darkness -- he didn't realize it at first, but he had started to later on. At first, he ignored you. Pushed you aside, brushed you off, only working with you when he absolutely needed to for the teams sake. Until he started to get to know you.

You were kind, caring, you saw him for him. Like Johnny. You two just clicked together. The team was shocked, Ghost hadn't opened up in months, and now you two were talking, hanging out and even eating together in mess hall.

You two bonded together for over two years. Until something changed.

Ghost was being sent on a suicide mission, practically. Alone, he had to gather intel in extreme temperatures and dangerous territory. He knew he almost most certainly wasn't going to come back. Ghost probably won't see you again after this mission..

After hearing the news, you were heartbroken-- and you two had planned to hang out one last time. You sat at a beach together, watching a sunset while softly chatting. Ghost put his arm around your waist, his head on your shoulder as you two stare into the orange glow.

He then turns to you, his voice soft, filled with the platonic love he felt for you.

"The sunset is beautiful, isn't it?"
