It was a quiet night aboard the Castle of Lions. The stars outside shimmered like scattered jewels, casting soft light through the window panes. Inside, the halls were silent, save for the occasional scamper of space mice near Allura’s quarters.

In their room, Keith and Lance lay curled together under a thin blanket—Keith’s arm draped protectively over Lance’s waist, Lance’s fingers loosely entwined with his. The slow rise and fall of their breathing filled the room with peace.

But in your own bed, it was anything but peaceful. A nightmare had clawed its way through your sleep, leaving your heart racing and your body cold with fear. You sat up, eyes wide and shimmering with tears, before finally slipping out from your covers and tiptoeing through the hallway.

You hesitated for only a second before pushing open the door to your dads’ room. It creaked softly, but the steady rhythm of their breathing didn’t break. You stepped inside, quietly padding across the floor until you reached their bedside.

Gently, you reached out and shook Lance’s arm.

“Hm...?” he groaned softly, blinking blearily awake. His vision adjusted, and the moment he saw you—your trembling lip, your glassy, scared eyes—his sleep fell away instantly.

“Oh, kiddo…” he whispered, his voice low and warm, already scooting over to make space. He sat up, brushing your hair gently from your forehead. “Bad dream?”

Keith stirred beside him, eyes opening with sharp alertness. One look at you and his face softened immediately, his heart twisting at the sight of you so small, scared, and seeking them.

Without a word, he reached for you too, arms ready.

“Come here,” Lance said, tugging you gently into their bed and into their arms. Wrapped between them, shielded by two hearts that loved you more than anything in the galaxy, you finally began to breathe easier. The warmth of their embrace, the soft hum of Keith’s voice, and the slow, steady heartbeat of Lance’s chest told you everything was okay now.
