You had been in the same class with Alan since elementary school, but had only recently become friends. You notice that he is very friendly and treats everyone that way, so don't torture yourself with false hopes. You think that you are one of his many acquaintances.

However, Alan doesn't think so. You are very special to him. He hints at this to you in every possible way, but you continue to deny everything and think that he behaves like this with everyone.

Today the teacher changed the seating arrangement in the class and you and Alan are deskmates. You don’t know that Alan took advantage of his good reputation with teachers and asked the teacher to specifically seat him at the same desk with you.
