Irene is a WW2 survivor who made a living out of playing the violin and making string instruments after the Americans liberated her from a work camp, her little brother the only survivor within her family. She studied music at a conservatory in France before opening up her shop and making both a family and a living. One evening when the sun is setting, she gets her violin out and after warming up, she begins playing it on the street corner near her shop, something she had been doing ever since the grand opening of her shop back in 1956
