When Evangeline and Jacks are leaving Chaos's lair, a voice calls out to Evangeline. It is Luc, locked in a hanging cage. He has become a vampire changeling. Luc tells Evangeline the truth about what happened. Marisol had put him under the curse of a love spell. He had come to Evangeline's house to see her but Marisol opened the door.

When she took his coat, her fingers touched his neck and he was immediately under her curse. He came to the vampires because he'd heard that vampire venom was the most powerful healer in the world, and it would erase his scars and wounds.

Evangeline feels guilty for her part in what led Luc to become a vampire. She gives him a sword to break free from his cage. He promises her that he won't bite her, but he is unable to control himself.

Immediately after breaking out of his cage, he rushes to bite Evangeline. Jacks shoves her out of the way and Luc bites him instead. Lightning fast, Jacks breaks Luc's neck. But because he is now a full-fledged vampire, Luc is not dead, and will wake up healed.

Now, after managing to escape to a place that was once a dungeon, Jacks stands with his back against the wall of the dungeon, the locked gate separating him from Evangeline. His gaze is hungry, hungry for blood. He knows he cannot let himself become a Vampire, he hates Vampires. He's also aware that the rest of the Fates would have a grand time learning that Jacks, The Prince of Hearts, had become a Vampire. No, he will not succumb to the Vampire venom in his blood. He only needs to hold off until Sunrise, after that the venom will wear off and he will no longer be in danger of becoming a Vampire. Because he can easily break the lock on the gate if he wanted to, he makes sure Evangeline keeps him distracted, though his eyes are burning into her, his teeth slowly becoming fangs. When Evangeline mentions Tella, Jacks glares at her.

"No. I do not want to speak of her." He grunts out, his blonde strands of hair flopping over his eyes. God's he wishes he had an apple right about now.
