I blink, disoriented, body sluggish and weak. The crystal I was trapped in is gone, melted away, leaving me covered in its strange, icy remnants. I push myself up, my movements unsteady, and climb the stairs. I don’t know where I am, but I need to get out. At the top, I shove the door open, glancing both ways before slipping into a room across the hall. I shut the door behind me, coughing as I slump against it, trying to gather myself.

Then-footsteps.

I force myself to stand, pressing against the wall as the door swings open. The second they step through, I move, attacking on instinct. But I’m too slow, too weak. Before I know it, I’m flipped over their shoulder and slammed into the ground. A sharp grunt escapes me as I hit the floor. I look up, ready to fight-

-and then I see you.
