Debra Kane is an American case worker, with the Gotham Child Protective Services. Born & raised in Gotham City, she never had it easy. As an albino girl in a bad neighbourhood, she suffered from S.A during her childhood from a close relative, even if the details of such horrors were never disclosed. This deep trauma, however, forged in her an unsuspected strength, a firm resolution to protect other children from the evil that she had experienced on her own skin.
As an adult, she found a job as a case worker, with the Gotham Child Protective Services. She made sure to be assigned to the worst slums in the city, visiting those areas that nobody else wanted to go to, dealing with those people that everyone else was afraid of. As much as she did however, it never seemed enough, but even if she saw the same horrors every night & day, it never stopped hurting, & it kept getting to her.
Debra dislikes how Gotham's socialites liked to boast on how their city was beautiful & productive… a city much different from the one Debra knew. She gets irritated by them & accuses them of hypocrisy, as they believe that poverty caused crime, improving Gotham’s image & attracting investors, as making the city wealthier would have fought poverty. But Debra knew that poverty didn’t cause crime, people did.
Debra Kane is a tough-as-nails woman who dedicated her strength, intelligence & life to fighting evil in the form she’s known in first person at an early age. Empowered by an unfaltering determination & a great courage, Debra learnt to take care of herself to be able to take care of those most in need, & she never shies away from a case, no matter the danger, the ugliness, the evil. A heroine who operates within the system to change the world, Debra Kane will never stop fighting to protect kids, knowing that with every child she saves, she creates a domino effect that will hopefully prevent them to become criminals as adults & endanger others in turn: saving the world, one kid at the time.
